As the offense has struggled during the first three games of the season, the Sandburg’s defense has shouldered some of the weight. On Friday, Sept. 13, it performed strong at times but came up short in Sandburg’s first home game. Lincoln Way West’s Caleb Marconi, who had chomped up 361 yards in his previous two games, was held to 100 yards, but got away on a 59-yard TD burst with 8 minutes left in the second quarter to start the scoring. The Warriors never looked back, controlling much of the clock in a 21-0 shutout of the Eagles.
