The middle reliever could be one of the most anonymous positions in Major League Baseball.

The starters get the wins. The closers get the saves. The middle relievers get the un-glamorous stat of “the hold.” 

Years ago at a Cubs Convention, a middle-relieving veteran walked among thousands of Cub-crazed fans without anyone giving him a second glance.
