Fresh frog legs might be the last item one would expect to find inside Frank’s Shrimp & Chicken — a takeout joint in a strip mall off Wolf Road in Mokena.

But sure enough, passing through Frank’s door into briny scents of batter, hot sauce and lemon, there they are — meaty appendages proudly displayed in a cooler alongside raw, glistening scallops, lake perch and salmon.

Frank Castro wants customers to know his fish is fresh.
