Teddy sat on the ground and watched as Will Ashum carefully read one of his favorite books to him.

And then, as the short story neared its conclusion, he gleefully wagged his fluffy white tail.

Teddy is a dog – a Maltese/poodle mix, to be exact.

“We have six dogs with us today,” said Mary Adamowski, Orland Park Public Library’s head of youth services. “This is Birdie-Girl’s first time with us. Bandit has been with us before, and so has Bear. Each dog has three children read to him, and they can bring their own books or we have books here for them to read.”
