Orland Park fitness trainer and healthy lifestyle coach Darin Steen has set a fundraising goal of $2,000 as he plans to lead his clients in a race to the top of the tallest building in North America.

"We're doing this to benefit the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago," Steen said. "I've found in the last 20 years working in the fitness field is that living the fitness lifestyle is one of the best ways to rehabilitate physical, mental and emotional trauma."

Steen and his group will take part in the annual staircase climb to the top of Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) on Sunday, Nov. 15. The event kicks off at 8 a.m. and concludes at noon.

People of all ability levels are welcome to participate, including runners, joggers, walkers and even those unable to climb. How? By the use of hand cycles, calibrated for resistance and time to simulate the stair-climbing experience.

"The fitness field has given me so much, I just want to give back," Steen said. "This event gives me and my clients a fitness goal which is very important in improving one's lifestyle and overall life. Plus, this is a great chance to see one of the greatest cities in the world."

Additional participants are welcome to join Steen in the fundraising effort by signing up at www.SkyRiseChicago.org and e-mailing him at darin@FatlossLifestyle.com.
