Ten can't miss showdowns this fall

Week 1: Andrew hosts Sandburg


7:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, in Tinley Park

Two District 230 schools continue its annual season-opening rivalry. Last year, Sandburg bested Andrew 17-10 in Orland Park.

Week 1: Providence hosts Joliet Catholic Academy

7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, in New Lenox

Coming off a playoff appearance in 2011, Providence looks to keep last year's 5A State Runner Up Joliet Catholic Academy and USC recruit Ty Isaac in check. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Week 2: Lincoln-Way West hosts Lincoln-Way Central

7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, in New Lenox

For the battle of New Lenox, both teams come into 2012 with key losses from last year. West lost coach Mark Vander Kooi and Central lost star running back Brett Ditchman to graduation. West is coming off a first-round playoff loss to JCA in 2011, while Central looks to improve on a 2-7 record.

Week 3: Andrew at Stagg

7:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, in Palos Hills

Andrew squares off the third school in the D230 triumvirate in Palos Hills. Last year, Andrew shut out Stagg 24-0 in Tinley Park.

Week 4: Tinley Park hosts Lemont

7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in Tinley Park

Two of the best programs in the South Suburban Conference Blue will square off in Tinley. Last year, Lemont beat Tinley Park 49-20 en route to a 6A semifinals appearance. The Titans are coming off a 5A second-round loss to Marian Central.

Week 5: Lincoln-Way West hosts Lincoln-Way North

7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in New Lenox

In a battle of the newest Lincoln-Ways, West looks to avenge a 7-0 loss from 2011. North looks to improve upon a five-win 2011 season and pick up a SouthWest Suburban Conference Red victory.

Week 6: Lincoln-Way East hosts Bolingbrook

7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in Frankfort

Lincoln-Way East defeated last year's 8A State Champion, Bolingbrook, 20-14 in Bolingbrook en route to an undefeated regular season. But after a 7A second-round loss, East looks to prove itself against a SouthWest Suburban Conference Blue powerhouse.

Week 7: Lincoln-Way East hosts Lincoln-Way Central

7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, in Frankfort

The two senior Lincoln-Ways do battle in Frankfort. Central looks to avenge a 42-7 loss from 2011.

Week 8: Sandburg hosts Lockport

7:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, in Orland Park

Rivals meet in a game that could have SWSC Blue ramifications. Last year, Lockport snapped a losing streak to Sandburg by winning a 27-24 barnburner in Lockport. Sandburg is coming off a 8A first-round loss, while Lockport is coming off a second-round loss.

Week 9: Providence hosts Mt. Carmel

7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in New Lenox.

Providence takes on Chicago Catholic Blue rival Mt. Carmel to close out the 2012 campaign. Providence beat Mt. Carmel 24-18 last season in Chicago.
