Orland Park Police are investigating an aggravated vehicular hijacking and aggravated robbery that occurred at 2:20 p.m. on Monday, July 30, in the Walgreens parking lot, located at 7960 W. 159th Street, according to a Tuesday, July 31, press release.
After parking and exiting her vehicle, an 88-year-old female victim was approached by a white male suspect as she was walking toward the store entrance, according to the release.
The male suspect grabbed her purse and vehicle keys and ran toward the victim's vehicle where the suspect kicked the victim in the leg, according to the release. The suspect then opened the vehicle door, striking the victim in the chest with the door.
The suspect stole the victim's vehicle and fled the area northbound on 80th Avenue from 159th Street, according to the release.
The victim was transported to Palos Community Hospital for treatment for her leg injury.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds. He is described as having a thin build, shoulder-length dark wavy hair and a few days growth of facial hair, according to the release. He was described as wearing a black shirt with red writing on the front of the shirt. The release stated that no weapon was displayed or inferred.
The victim's vehicle is described as a tan 2007 four-door Buick Lucerene with an Illinois license plate of G40 9830. The vehicle has not been recovered.
If anyone sees this vehicle, they are asked to call 911, and report the sighting and location to police. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the OPPD Investigations Division at (708) 349-4111.
